Question by Cassie: What laws could be used against me because of what was said on facebook?
A coach read some things on my private facebook somehow. She is not friends with me on facebook.
Two friends answered social questions (for example, “what would ‘so-and-so dress up as for halloween?”) directed toward me with her name. I responded negatively toward this questions because of things this coach has done to me in the past. I did not threaten her, but I wished her ill. She apparently held a meeting with the younger girls and told them to watch what they say on websites they “think” are private. She excluded me from this meeting.
I feel like I have done nothing wrong. I was simply expressing my dislike for her. But I feel like she has done wrong. Is this an invasion of privacy?
As a side note, this woman is also a coach who did some very unjust things. The question is not whether she deserves to be talked badly about or not She’s in some serious trouble… she’s possibly using this as a way to get back at the people who are revealing her serious behavior that is getting her in trouble to school officials. This is an extensive, serious matter. I just need to know laws for both sides that i can look up. Against her or against those who were involved along with me.
Should I be concerned here?

Yes, you should be concerned. Many school systems have taken action against students who posted stupid things on the Internet. So far the courts have allowed the school systems a free hand.
Let me give you some advice…. The Internet is forever. Do not put anything on there that you will not be proud to have all your prospective employers, your pastors/priests, your kids, your neighbors, your teachers and your future husband read. What seems funny/amusing to you, today, might not be so funny 10, 15 or 20 years from now.
